Ashford takes Fire Service development

CONTRACTS - BIRMINGHAM

ASHFORD is negotiating a £10 million deal to build an office and warehouse development for the West Midlands Fire Service.

The firm has seen off competition from Mansell, Shepherd and Leicestershire contractor Laser Build to secure the deal for the project at Vauxhall Road in Birmingham.

Designed by architects Pinnegar Heywood, the scheme is currently being remodelled to accommodate more facilities.

The project had to be amended following consultation with Birmingham City Council. The development includes an office block and a warehouse.

Revised planning permission is expected to be granted in the next three months. An official contract award is due after Christmas, with construction work starting in the spring.
