Babcock boosts orders with Clyde win

Support services firm Babcock has boosted its order book with a £400 million extension to its engineering support and facilities management deal a HM Naval Base Clyde in Scotland.
The Ministry of Defence has awarded Babcock Naval Services the five and a half year extension which will extend the relationship between the two at Clyde until 2013.

Its success raises the total value of Babcock's order book to £1.6 billion.

The original partnering agreement came into effect in September 2002, and was due to run until August 2007. But Babcock's efforts in reducing costs and improving services prompted the MoD to award the extension a year early.

The award of this extension brings the total value of the partnering

agreement to around £825 million.
