Balfour Beatty wins £23m rail and road contracts

Balfour Beatty has won work in Scotland worth up to £23m.

Its Balfour Beatty Regional Civil Engineering division has been awarded contracts with Network Rail and BAE Systems.

The BAE Systems job is the £7.2m construction of a new access road at its Bishopton development including a bridge over the existing railway. Bishopston is being developed for a mix of residential, retail and commercial use and will include a new junction on the M8.

Network Rail has awarded BBRCE a £6.1m contract for platform refurbishment of seven of its stations:  Blair Atholl, Bowling, Cambuslang, Crosshill, Dingwall, Maybole and Motherwell.

It has also awarded the firm a package under its Access for All framework, with a potential value of £10m, which will start with a £2m job to improve access for disabled people at Perth station.

Five further stations are set for upgrades and BBRCE is designing options for Network Rail.
