Balfour Beatty wins health brace

Balfour Beatty is preferred bidder on the £190 million Northern Batched Hospitals PFI project in Greater Manchester.
The company - part of the winning Consort team - will redevelop and provide new buildings for Salford's Hope Hospital under a 34-year concession with a capital value of £130 million.

In Tameside, Consort will design and build a new acute and mental health facility at Tameside General in a £60 million deal.

The two deals are Balfour Beatty's seventh and eighth major PFI hospital schemes.

Financial close for the schemes is expected in early 2007.
