BARCOM, which claims to be the largest heavy plant hirer, has unveiled a 47 per cent leap in pre-tax profits to a record £4 million for the year to September end. Improved results at Hawkins Plant Services helped the heavy plant division lift profits by 38 per cent to £3.3 million. The business has been renewing its fleet and has sought to reduce its reliance on coal.
Elsewhere, the group's light plant division helped it raise profits by 43 per cent to £3.3 million. The firm has increased its number of outlets from five to 12 with further planned.
