Bardsley wins with private houses

FINANCE

PROFITS at Manchesterbased Bardsley Construction have more than doubled following the firm's return to private house building.

Bardsley Construction, which demerged from Bardsley Homes last year, hoisted pretax profits up to £1.4 million in the year to June 2005 from £595,000 in the previous year.

Chairman Wayne Bardsley said: 'These figures show a flying start and that the benefits of the reorganisation are starting to take shape.' Turnover surged £7.6 million to £34 million with £29.5 million of this total coming from contracting but the firm also has 400 homes at various stages of planning and construction.

Bardsley, which employs 235 people, hopes to lift pre-tax profits to £2 million this year and turnover to £47 million.
