Barford dumps dealers

BARFORD Site Dumpers is to drop up to half its 20-odd UK dealers over the coming weeks as its parent company restructures.

The firm will ditch dealers it sees as underperforming and sell direct to the market. But the remaining favoured dealers will still have a free hand in their respective territories.

Barfords parent company, Wordsworth Holdings, is reorganising its plant interests which include Aveling Barford and Construction Teleporters into a single division named Barford Construction Equipment.

Peter Youlton, BCEs new divisional managing director, said: By combining our sales and marketing activities, well be able to target customers better and offer some lower prices.

He said more of a direct-sell approach would pay a number of dividends for BCE, but denied there would be a clash of interests with remaining dealers.
