Bid call for £150m campus scheme

Birmingham City University is inviting bids for a proposed £150 million campus development at the centre of the West Midlands city.

The university is planning a 35,000sq m development on a 1.7ha site in New Canal Street where it has entered a long-term lease.

Consultants are already working on a master plan, the university says, but is is now "seeking to appoint the rest of the consultant team to deliver its vision".

A small concert hall, recital space and library will be included in the development, with work scheduled to start this July.

The university expects to invite up to eight bidders to submit a tender. The deadline for requests to participate is Monday 7 April.
