Bid list for Luton schools revealed

Wates, Bouygues, VT, Apollo/Babcock & Brown and PFI specialist Equitix have all made the long list for Luton Council’s Building Schools for the Future project.

The five are bidding for a deal worth £216 million to rebuild or refurbish all of Luton’s secondary schools.

All five will now submit outline bids before three are invited to participate in developing detailed proposals in March. A preferred bidder will be appointed in December 2008.

The first Luton schools to benefit from this makeover are Lea Manor High School, Challney High School for Girls, Ashcroft High School and Lealands High School as well as Luton's two new Academies (Barnfield West and Barnfield South).
