Bidders named for £1bn+ student projects

Five bidders are in the race for student accommodation projects in Hertfordshire and Edinburgh.

The University of Hertfordshire is in dialogue with three final bidders for a partnership to design, build, finance and operate a 3,000 bed accommodation building at its Hatfield campus including demolition of some existing student housing.

Bidders are Uliving, Campus Living Villages/Balfour Beatty and Sir Robert McAlpine.

The university has put the project value at between £200m and £1bn over its 35 years term.

Edinburgh University is in final stages of dialogue with two bidders for its 1,150 bedroom student homes project.

Balfour Beatty and University Partnerships Programme are in contention for the project, which with other facilities will cover 13,600m2.
