Bidders on their Marks

HIGH STREET retail giant Marks & Spencer is to invite tenders in the spring for massive facilities management contracts covering work at all 300 of its UK stores.

Sources close to the project say the deal is likely to be worth 'tens of millions of pounds'.

It is understood that the present FM deals will be 'fundamentally rebid' and will run from two to five years.

The contracts will be let region by region with the industry'sbig guns keen to get among the spoils along with firms such as Mansell, Drake & Scull, Haden and GS Hall.

WS Atkins will assess the tender bids.

Meanwhile, Marks & Spencer is inviting firms to pitch for a management fee deal, worth up to£2 million, to supervise the FM work.
