Bids invited for £51m Scottish university job

Robert Gordon University is seeking a contractor to carry out a £51 million job to construct several new buildings on the Garthdee campus in Aberdeen.

Up to five contractors will be shortlisted for the job, which will include the construction of nearly 25,000 sq m floor space, comprising of a library/learning resource tower, a specialist engineering facility, lecture theatres and staff accommodation.

A building warrant is being applied for under a staged approach that will conclude by the end of October.

The final approvals relating to internal fit-out, fire and M&E are anticipated to be received by April 2011. This will leave the contractor to obtain the final elements of building warrant approval.

Tenders are due by 10 November.
