BIM helps Bam save on arena job

BIM helped Bam Construction to save £350,000 on the £60 million Leeds Arena, according to director Chris Gilmour.

Working with a combined BIM model created by lead designer and architect Populous and engineer Arup, the contractor discovered 62 clashes in the first four weeks, which it estimates saved £100,000.

The contractor has saved a further £250,000 on the project through co-ordination and clash detection.

Bam Construction has established its own BIM steering group, which sits monthly and aims to develop at least one project in each UK region through BIM.
