Bird flu warning prompts stockpiling of drugs

The Government was today continuing to stockpile anti-viral drugs after Britain's chief warned that bird flu posed a threat to the UK.
Dr Debby Reynolds, the UK's chief veterinary officer sounded the alert after a deadly strain of the virus was detected in Turkey.

Scientists in the UK analysed the diseased birds and found them to contain the H5N1 virus which has killed around 60 people in Asia.
