Birmingham theme park plans revealed

Plans have been unveiled to build a 200m high leisure and observation tower, with theme park-style rides, a hotel, bars and restaurants in the heart of Birmingham.

Developers Pettifer Estates say the VerTiPlex VTP200 would offer 360-degree views of the city, with visitors transported to the attractions via an external glass lift.

A public consultation is now taking place and developers hope to submit an application by the end of the year.

If given the go-ahead, building will begin next summer and should finish in 2010.
