Birse Metro wins London tube bridge contract

London Underground has awarded Birse Metro a contract to replace two bridge decks on the District Line in west London.

The existing longitudinal trough bridge decks cross the A315 in the London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham.

The new structures will be half-through plate-girder bridges with reinforced concrete decks spanning discrete steel cross girders.

Birse Metro said it would manufacture the steel frames off site and transport them to site for installation in January next year.
