B&K bags Cambridge Tesco deal

CONTRACTS - CAMBRIDGESHIRE

BOWMER & Kirkland has jumped the queue to bag a £30 million distribution centre for Tesco in Cambridgeshire.

Bids from Kier, Taylor Woodrow, HBG and local firm RG Carter have been shelved by the supermarket giant. All of the shortlisted firms are on Tesco's preferred contractor list.

Bowmer & Kirkland hopes to start work on the 65,000 sq m warehouse in September once the final contract details have been hammered out.

Two smaller buildings will house a vehicle maintenance depot and resource recovery unit. Car park facilities and service roads are included in the deal.

The centre will be built on land off Parnwell Way on the eastern edge of Peterborough. The contract is expected to last around 18 months.
