Blair challenges UN to live up to its name

Prime Minister Tony Blair threw down the gauntlet to the deeply divided United Nations yesterday, challenging the 191 member states to pull together and live up to their name.
He warned the UN world summit in New York that there is work to do and that failure to act will have dire consequences.

He said: 'The UN must come of age. It must become the visible and credible expression of the globalisation of politics. We work with each other or we suffer in isolation.'
