Borough earmarks building for upgrade

The London Borough of Southwark is seeking developers for a refurbishment project worth up to £8.5 million.

The council will hire a contractor to design and fit-out 18,000sq m of office space at 160 Tooley Street, London, for 2,100 staff.

Renovations and new building works are involved in the project, with new shops on Tooley Street and a large foyer suitable for exhibitions and public events earmarked for the rejuvenated building.

The 10 month project, expected to cost between £7 million and £8.5 million, also involves fitting out an existing atrium and building new meeting rooms.

Up to six bidders will be invited tender for the project. The deadline for requests to participate is Tuesday 22 April.
