BOUYGUES has dropped out of the bidding for a £127 million hospital job after picking up a similar-sized deal nearby.
The firm was shortlisted by Essex Rivers Healthcare NHS Trust in March, alongside Amec and an Interserve/Equion partnership known as the Pyramid consortium.
Bouygues bosses told the trust its bid could be shelved if it was selected to build a new £120 million hospital alongside Broomfield Hospital in Chelmsford.
Amec and Pyramid will go head-tohead for the Essex Rivers deal, which will redevelop Colchester General Hospital.
Tenders go out in July, with a preferred bidder due before Christmas.
