Bovis Lend Lease selected for Scottish National Arena job

Bovis Lend Lease has been selected by the Scottish Exhibition and Conference Centre (SECC) to build the Scottish National Arena.

The project will create employment opportunities for up to 3,000 people over the course of the construction, which is planned to commence in February and will be completed by 2013.

The 12,000 seat arena, which was designed by Foster & Partners, is expected to have in excess of one million visitors a year and will be a key venue for the 2014 Commonwealth Games.

Lend Lease chief executive Dan Labbad said: “We’re delighted to have been awarded the contract to build the Scottish National Arena and to have the opportunity to work again with the Scottish Exhibition Centre Ltd.

“The appointment recognises our strong track record for successful delivery of projects in the UK and around the world and skills and capabilities in this area.

“We look forward to drawing on the experience and expertise of a large number of specialists located throughout the Lend Lease Group.”
