Kvaerner Construction has used a segment erector with hand excavation methods for the first time ever. The erector, normally used with tunnel boring machine construction, was brought in on the contractor's £72 million, 5 m-diameter tunnel, which is being built seven storeys below ground, linking London's Harrods store with an administration block 75 m away.
