Birse staff at work on the partial reconstruction of an underbridge at Tyseley Rail Depot near Birmingham during a 56-hour weekend possession. The job for Railtrack comprises a single-span bridge across the Grand Union Canal to carry six railway lines. Birse has been reconstructing the intermediate bays of the bridge, but leaving the outside bays, which have already been revamped, undisturbed.

The firm has also taken away redundant bridge decks and installed three new steel bridges on existing concrete abutments.
