Birmingham City Council is funding a study into the possibility of building an underground transport network.The £150,000 study will look at whether tunnels could be built under the city centre to expand the existing Midlands Metro tram system, how much it would cost to build and the potential economic impact of the scheme.The council has also earmarked £3.8 million to redevelop the city's New Street railway station.
