Builder dies days after head injury

NEWS

A BUILDER carried on working for the rest of the day despite suffering a fall that would eventually kill him.

The unnamed man, 69, fell over and hit his head while working at the Swan Hill Homes site in Weybridge, Surrey. He continued working for the rest of the day but was later found collapsed in a site vehicle and taken to Basingstoke hospital where he died three days later.

A special post-mortem was held last Wednesday to determine the cause of death, which was a 'blow to the head'.

A coroner's inquest is scheduled for April.

The client for the development is PD Hunt. Surrey Police and the Health and Safety Executive are investigating the incident.

A 33-year-old worker died after being hit by a bulldozer at a landfill site in Brogborough, Bedfordshire, last week. Aspect Environmental is the main contractor on site with subcontractor Viking Plant. The client is Waste Recycling Group.
