Builder dies from roof fall

A 57-year-old builder has died from his injuries after falling from a roof of a house at Mountfield Gardens in Newcastle.

The man, believed subcontracted by North East Lofts, was fitting the windows of a loft conversion on the house when he fell 30ft, landing on the concrete patio.

He was taken to Newcastle’s General Hospital in a critical condition, but died of his injuries on Friday.

The Health and Safety Executive has been informed and is now investigating the incident.
