Forget salt and vinegar, rest in peace cheese and onion – crisp lovers across the UK can now get their very own taste of bricks and mortar.
The Builder’s Breakfast flavour has won Walkers’ Do us a Flavour competition and bagged itself a place on supermarket shelves everywhere.
Created by Emma Rushin from Derbyshire, and backed by the Federation of Master Builders, the winning flavour is based on the morning fry-up traditionally enjoyed by construction workers.
The flavour faced stiff competition but there was only one winner in these difficult times – who has ever rebuilt a nation on Chilli and Chocolate?
More than a million votes were cast in the crunch competition and Builder’s Breakfast received almost 22 per cent of them.
Ms Rushin said: “I’m thrilled to have won! Tensions were high especially towards the end of campaigning; I really had no idea which way the public vote would go.”
She added: “I am ever so grateful for the public’s support and all their votes. It’s wonderful to know so many people love Builder’s Breakfast too!”
The only dilemma for builders now is whether to enjoy the crisps with a cold beer or a hot cup of tea.
