Burhan International wins Kuwaiti road contract

Kuwait's Public Works Ministry has awarded the local Burhan International Construction Company a KD3m ($11m) infrastructure contract.

The contract, which was awarded last month, covers the general maintenance and construction of a range of external and border roads throughout the southern area of the state of Kuwait.

Initial work has already begun and the contract is expected to last 18 months.

The tender was issued in June and the deadline for bids was 27 August.

In November Burhan was the third lowest bidder for the third phase of the Jahra-Subiya expressway. It bid $160m for the 27-kilometre section, which features two spurs to the Iraqi border and Bubiyan Island (MEED 23:11:08).
