Welsh firm Drain Busters was fined £16,000 at Wrexham Magistrates' Court this week after an elderly man fell down an open manhole in November 2005. Patrick O'Regan, 73, was paralysed from the waist down when he fell into the sewer in Wrexham.

The firm was also ordered to pay £5,508 in costs.
