Doors and Windows Escape compliance

Cotswold Architectural Products has developed a smaller-sized PVCu window which, it says, will be the first of its type to comply with building regulations on means of escape. The New Build Egress incorporates an innovative friction stay which allows windows as small as 630 mm wide brick to brick to meet the required 500 mm escape route.

Rockwool has launched Rainscreen duo slab. The company says it is ideal for new-build curtain wallling and the refurbishment of high-rise facades. The system boasts a robust outer surface which offers maximum weather protection and the clearly defined inner cavity means that less polypropylene filling is used.

Security

Panic lock

The 795 and 797 series of solenoid bolts from Clarke Instruments enable panic locking in situations where possible threats might arise - for example, in petrol station forecourts, cash rooms and jewellers. The bolts are manufactured from solid brass, are configured to fail open and can be operated by either 12 V or 24 V DC power.

Portable detector

Air Marwood has recently announced the introduction of a new portable wireless security system. The system requires no expertise to set up and consists of a passive infrared detector which is housed in a small battery- driven transmitter enclosure which sits on a shelf desk or vehicle and projects a 20 m-long beam across the secure area.

DJ Containers has launched the Cement-Hoppa, which allows builders to store cement in dry, clean conditions as well as providing an accurate measurement of the cement to be dispensed. The Hoppa comprises a durable self-clean polypropylene container with a galvanised frame and a dispensing mechanism which is robust enough to withstand site conditions.

Flexible barrier

Tenax Plastics has unveiled the Limit barrier system which is a flexible plastic mesh barrier mounted on a lightweight rustproof metal frame and which uses a hinge hook system. The barrier is said to be ideal for use by site road crews because the bright colours draw attention to hazards while the light weight makes transportation easy.

Radiodetection has launched a kit for builders which incorporates the new C.A.T. cable avoiding tool. The kit allows the builder to locate and trace main and service cables, telecom cables, gas and water pipes and comprises a Genny transmitter with ground lead and ground stake, a connection lead, 100 mm signal clamp, a Mega Mouse Sonde and a user handbook.

Immersion Lamp produces UVC radiation on a wavelength of 254 nanometers which is ideal for destroying viruses, bacteria, fungi and spores in water, on surfaces or in the air.

Autodesk has announced the availability of Autodesk CAD Overlay, an extension to the image support capabilities of AutoCAD Release 14 and AutoCAD MAP 2.0. Wailes Dove Coatings has reformulated is 'Coloured Solution' protective paint to produce a tough, resilient coating which is said to seal corrosion for longer while maintaining superior gloss and colour retention properties. The system has been designed specially for machinery and metal surfaces and includes a rust inhibitor to deliver longer-lasting protection.
