The 795 and 797 series of solenoid bolts from Clarke Instruments enable panic locking in situations where possible threats might arise - for example, in petrol station forecourts, cash rooms and jewellers. The bolts are manufactured from solid brass, are configured to fail open and can be operated by either 12 V or 24 V DC power.
Air Marwood has recently announced the introduction of a new portable wireless security system. The system requires no expertise to set up and consists of a passive infrared detector which is housed in a small battery- driven transmitter enclosure which sits on a shelf desk or vehicle and projects a 20 m-long beam across the secure area.

Thermasnap, from Inframetrics Infrared Systems, is a digital infrared still image camera which features point and shoot operation and a large colour LCD display which is said to make trouble shooting in the field both fast and easy. The camera weighs just 2.3 kg and also guarantees temperature measurement.
On the Hoppa
DJ Containers has launched the Cement-Hoppa, which allows builders to store cement in dry, clean conditions as well as providing an accurate measurement of the cement to be dispensed. The Hoppa comprises a durable self-clean polypropylene container with a galvanised frame and a dispensing mechanism which is robust enough to withstand site conditions.
Tenax Plastics has unveiled the Limit barrier system which is a flexible plastic mesh barrier mounted on a lightweight rustproof metal frame and which uses a hinge hook system. The barrier is said to be ideal for use by site road crews because the bright colours draw attention to hazards while the light weight makes transportation easy.

Graham and White Instruments has developed the SB2i, a capacitive-based inclinometer suitable for measuring both static and dynamic variables. It can be used for assessing platform levels, antenna- aerial positioning, wheel alignment and the pitch and roll measurement of vehicles.

Radiodetection has launched a kit for builders which incorporates the new C.A.T. cable avoiding tool. The kit allows the builder to locate and trace main and service cables, telecom cables, gas and water pipes and comprises a Genny transmitter with ground lead and ground stake, a connection lead, 100 mm signal clamp, a Mega Mouse Sonde and a user handbook.

The MEC 800 gate operator from BPT Automation is claimed to provide safer automatic opening and closing of large, heavy and wind- affected gates. The unit incorporates a braking system which slows down the movement of its gates during the last part of their travel.
Stanley Tools has launched a hi-tech, low cost alternative to traditional optical measuring equipment. Compulevel enables elevation and levelling measurements to be taken quickly and easily. The firm claims that it can increase productivity by 500 per cent in comparison with a two-man team using optical levelling equipment.

Stonell has launched a range of limestone tiles from Jerusalem. The firm says that the tiles are modestly priced, come in a range of soft colours suitable to British tastes and have been cut to fine tolerances at a factory in Hebron using up-to-date technology.

The Groovelock timber sport and leisure floor system from the A Proctor Group features a self-fixing, interlocking design which the manufacturer says means it can be permanently or temporarily laid indoors or outdoors. The strong, multipurpose surface offers all the benefits of sprung timber flooring at a competitive price.
Autodesk has announced the availability of Autodesk CAD Overlay, an extension to the image support capabilities of AutoCAD Release 14 and AutoCAD MAP 2.0. The product gives customers a tightly integrated, object orientated solution for all types of activity including land surveying, land planning, site transportation and infrastructure design.

Bison has issued a Windows version of its CSC Composite Beam Design Programme which offers information on the design of hollow core slabs acting compositely with steel beams. This is said to be a cheaper method of construction than the use of profiled metal sheeting
Wailes Dove Coatings has reformulated is 'Coloured Solution' protective paint to produce a tough, resilient coating which is said to seal corrosion for longer while maintaining superior gloss and colour retention properties. The system has been designed specially for machinery and metal surfaces and includes a rust inhibitor to deliver longer-lasting protection.
TBA Electro Conductive Products has launched a water-based static dissipative epoxy coating that
offers the benefits of low odour and easy cleaning of equipment. The firm's ECP 525 is a high-quality water-based, two-pack epoxy system which can be used to provide conductive flooring in electronics assembly areas or where asphalt or bitumen flooring need to be protected from solvent- based coatings.

Two new products have been launched by Vermeer. These are the D24x40a Navigator drill, which is a self-contained, one-piece unit including rod box power plant and integral mud pump; and the D50x100a Navigator, which has been designed to provide operators using trenchless technology with higher spindle torque, computer aided steering and greater manpower efficiency.
