Calling all dragonslayers...

CONSTRUCTION companies have only a few weeks to get a crew together for the annual Chinese Dragon Boat Challenge in aid of the homeless charity Crash.

Companies need to find a 10-strong crew for the event at London West Reservoir on July 6 and Salford Quays in Manchester on June 7.

Teams of paddlers plus a drummer will battle it out in ornate 10 m Chinese dragon boats in a bid to become the industry's top crew.

Crash is celebrating its 15th anniversary with its year long Hard Hat Appeal and contractors can sign up for the race as a 'Hard Hat Crew' with the bonus of a magnum of champagne for the fastest team.

Crash director Tom Biddlecombe said: 'We urge more companies from the industry to sign up this year and raise sponsorship to support our appeal. Help us make a difference to the lives of some very vulnerable people who have been damaged by the experience of being homeless.

'Our promise is that, as always, every penny raised will go directly towards the homelessness projects we assist and none will be spent on administration costs.' Registration is now open to form a crew. Call Gable Events on 01780 470718.
