Carillion preferred for £175m BSF deal

Carillion has been appointed as the preferred bidder for the £175 million South Tyneside and Gateshead Building Schools for the Future programme.

The Local Education Partnerships will deliver 14 secondary schools by January 2012, primarily through new build with some refurbishment.

Construction work on the project will be carried out in three phases over four years starting in January 2008.

Carillion, which has invested £2 million of equity in the project, will also provide facilities management services for the new schools during the 25-year contract.
