Carillion signs £690m MoD housing scheme

A joint venture including Carillion, Atkins and Enterprise has signed a £690 million contract to maintain and upgrade 45,000 family properties used by the Ministry of Defence.
Work will cover maintenance and improvement work of housing over seven years, with the possibility of a three-year extension.

Last week Carillion revealed that it is in talks with rival contractor Mowlem to buy the company. If the two do link up, they would have the biggest portfolio of MoD work in the UK.

Mowlem is due to sign the £5 billion Allenby Connaught deal next month, which covers upgrading army personnel in Aldershot and Salisbury plain .
