Carillion wins £157m Birmingham library job

Carillion has clinched a £157 million deal to build a new library for Birmingham City Council.

Work will cover construction of the new library which will integrate the Birmingham Repertory Theatre. New facilities will include an auditorium, meeting and conference rooms and a café and restaurant.

Construction is due to start in 2010 with completion expected by mid 2013.

Carillion chief executive John McDonough said: “We are delighted to have been selected for this important contract, further enhancing our strong, long-term order book.

“We look forward to working with Birmingham City Council to deliver this prestigious project, which will provide state of the art facilities for local people for decades to come.”
