Carillion wins £30m school contract

Carillion has been appointed as the preferred bidder to build a £30 million school in Nailsea, North Somerset.

Designs for the school, which will be built on the site of the existing Nailsea Community School, will be finalised in the coming months and construction is due to start in the summer.

Once the new school is in use the old one will be demolished.

The new school is being funded by the Department for Children, Schools and Families as part of the Government's Building Schools for the Future programme.

Construction is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2009.
