Cat profits up 40 per cent

CATERPILLAR has recorded a 20 per cent rise in turnover and a 40 per cent rise in operating profits in the year to December 31, 2005.

Chief executive officer Jim Owens said the results were due to 'an effective response to unprecedented demand'.

Cat's operating profit was £1.63 billion on turnover of £20.76 billion across its plant and engines business.

Mr Owens said: '2006 should be another year of excellent growth'
