China trade visit takes in stadium gig

NEXT year's trade mission to China by British contractors and consultants will visit a major stadium exhibition taking place in the run-up to the 2008 Olympic Games.

The visit has been organised by the British Consultants and Contractors Bureau and Trade Partners UK and was due to visit Beijing and Shanghai in May.

But it had to be scrapped because of the deadly Sars virus.

The mission will now be in the country from February 17-25, which will coincide with the China Stadia 2004 exhibition in Beijing.

BCCB Asia Pacific director Douglas Kerr said: 'There is a great amount of work to be done in Beijing because of the Olympics.'

Among work pencilled in for Shanghai is bridge and port construction and redevelopment of the airport and railway.
