Church faces new row over vote for women bishops

The Church of England is facing a potential split today after the General Synod voted to allow women to become bishops.
Although the decision was supported by a majority of bishops and clergy, it is feared the move will open up new divisions.

A meeting of the Synod in York voted to remove obstacles which prevent women from being ordained as bishops after almost four hours of impassioned debate.
