Clarke to announce fate of detained terror suspects

Home Secretary Charles Clarke will today reveal the fate of the foreign terror suspects detained without trial in Britain in the aftermath of September 11.
One report, in today's edition of The Times, suggested that Mr Clarke would announce that the suspects would be freed from prison, but kept under virtual house arrest.

They would be kept under permanent surveillance while agreements were negotiated with their home countries for their deportation.
