Cleveland lands Tay Bridge deal

MATERIALS

STEEL contractor Cleveland Bridge has won a deal to carry out essential maintenance work on the Tay Road Bridge in Dundee.

The £16 million, two-year contract for client the Tay Road Bridge Joint Board is to refurbish the bridge and replace its bearings.

The steelwork specialist, booted off the Wembley Stadium project by Australian developer Multiplex after finishing most of the steel fabrication and erection, will carry out the work under a partnership agreement with TRBJB.

Managing director Brian Rogan said work on the project would start immediately.

He said: 'Undertaking the refurbishment with the bridge remaining fully functional throughout the two-year programme will require strong project management. I am convinced this is just the first of a number of contracts that will come our way this summer.'
