College deadline looms


THREE teams working up prices for a £50 million education scheme in North Yorkshire have less than two weeks to return bids.

York College wants to knock down its Sim Balk Lane campus and replace it with a more modern building.

Balfour Beatty, HBG and Sir Robert McAlpine have until April 27 to return tenders.

Building will start in July while students will carry on their studies at another site in the city. This will eventually be sold for housing.Work finishes in September 2007.
