Come together on safety review

Sir, I would like to add my opinion on the consultation between the Health and Safety Executive and site workers ('Site Safety: HSE asks the worker', News, April 27).

While this consultation gives everybody, irrespective of their position within a company, the chance to submit their views on health and safety, I believe there is still an us and them attitude between employers and workers when it comes to site safety.

It is a fact that reprisals still occur after an accident, no matter how it is masked over or covered up.

Now we all have a chance to break this attitude and be as one on health and safety issues by getting them out in the open.

This can only benefit both company and worker alike.

Finally, please note workers can forward their suggestions and ideas to the HSE consultation until September 2006.

So I encourage readers to take the opportunity to make known their feelings on health and safety issues and ideally share them with readers of Const ruct ion News as well.
