Construction minister launches sustainability review

Construction minister Alun Michael has launched a review of the Government's strategy for sustainable construction.
In a statement to the House of Commons, he said: 'We are reviewing the strategy to provide a framework to guide future Government policies where they are relevant to construction.'

Mr Michael said that the review was necessary due to policy developments in the sector since the last sustainability strategy was published by the former Department of Environment, Transport and the Regions in 2000. This latest review will be completed by spring 2006.

He added: 'The review will focus on the principle of sustainable development to which the Government as a whole is signed up.'
