Contenders listed for huge M25 scheme


THE Highways Agency has announced a shortlist of prequalified bidders for one of the country's biggest ever road jobs, the £4.5 billion M25 widening scheme The five bidders for the DBFO contract are: Amey/ Laing O'Rourke/Ferrovial Agroman; CircuLON (Fluor and Transurban); Connect Plus (Balfour Beat ty, Skanska, Atkins and Egis); Flow (Vinci, Autoroutes, Laing Roads, Carillion and Costain); and Macquarie Motorway Group.

The successful bidder will be responsible for the phased widening of 63 miles of the M25 to four lanes in each direction.

Also included in the contract will be operation and maintenance of the M25 and the Dartford Crossing for 30 years.

Tenders will go out early next month, with a contract award anticipated in 2008.
