Contractor appointed for new hospital

Redcar and Cleveland Primary Care Trust has appointed a joint venture between Ryhurst and Sir Robert McAlpine to build the new £30 million hospital and health centre on West Dyke Road.

The project, which will house four GP practices, will replace the Stead Primary Care Hospital on Coatham Road.

Ground works are due to start in February and construction is expected to last about a year.

The project was first unveiled in November 2004 and was originally due to be completed this summer.
