Contractor sought to build £76m pipeline

United Utilities Water is inviting bids for a £76 million water pipeline between Prescot and Bury and a pumping station at Prescot Water Treatment Works.

The 54km pipeline will be 1.2m in diameter. The majority of the line will go through fields and agricultural land, with 1km in highway.

There will be approximately 72 crossings of highways, railways, canals and watercourses, while the whole pipeline will encompass 1km of tunnelling.

Tenders are due in on 11 March.
