Contracts League

JARVIS has leapt to the top of the contractors' monthly table, scooping five contracts totalling £286 million during the final month of 1999.

These late wins take Jarvis up 15 places in the annual table, securing the firm a place in the top 10 for the first time since the league began four years ago.

Bovis Lendlease was leader of the annual top 40 until the penultimate month of 1999, but the firm has slumped to 11th spot after the November 1998 figure dropped out of its 12-month rolling total.

In terms of contracts won, Sir Robert McAlpine finished 1999 as top contractor. It landed £67.5 million worth of work in December to take its order book for the whole of last year to£910 million.
