Costain JV nabs Cheshire water job

A Costain joint venture has been awarded a contract by United Utilities for a waste water and sludge incineration scheme at Shell Green in Cheshire.

The two and a half year contract for the Mersey Valley Processing Centre, worth £90 million to Costain and VWS (UK), part of Veolia Environment, is for design, procurement, construction and commissioning work.

Andrew Wyllie, chief executive of Costain, said: "The contract will further build on our position in the UK water sector where we are one of the leading contractors and links directly to our drive into the related waste sector."
