Costain wins £35m at Coventry roulette table

COSTAIN is in final negotiations for a £35 million deal to build a casino and hotel development in Coventry.

The firm looks to have beaten competition from rivals Alfred McAlpine, HBG and Carillion to secure the deal at Belgrade Plaza for a joint venture partnership of GW Deeley and Oakmoor Estates. The development will include a 184 bed four star hotel along with a 109 bed Travel Inn hotel and a Gala Casino. It will be a key part of the £130 million regeneration of the area around the Grade II listed Belgrade Theatre in the city centre.

Contract award is anticipated next month with construction set to start in December.
