Council loses asylum battle

CONTRACTS BICESTER

AN OXFORDSHIRE council has lost a High Court battle to prevent a £60 million asylum centre being built near Bicester.

Carillion is due to carry out the work for the Home Office, but Cherwell District Council objected to Deputy Prime Minister John Prescott's decision last year to approve the complex.

The council is considering whether to take its battle to the House of Lords.
